Why they stay
Two reasons come back repeatedly, and neither is price.
The first is that the meter is specified for the fluid rather than the catalogue. Liner, electrode and body materials are selected per application — a meter for abrasive slurry is not the same instrument as a meter for treated water, even at the same line size.
The second is that support reaches an engineer. Configuration questions, recalibration and spares are handled by the people who designed the instrument, which matters when a plant is down and the answer is needed now.
